Heartsaver® CPR AED First Aid Instructor Course Description

The Heartsaver® CPR AED First Aid Instructor Course is designed for individuals who want to teach American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver courses to the general public and workplace responders. This program prepares instructor candidates to confidently teach Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AED use, and First Aid using AHA-approved curriculum and instructional methods.

Instructor candidates will learn how to effectively lead classroom discussions, demonstrate skills, facilitate hands-on practice, conduct skills testing, and manage course administration in compliance with AHA guidelines. The course emphasizes real-world teaching techniques, student engagement, and quality assurance to ensure students are properly trained to respond in emergencies.

Course Format

• Blended Learning:

  • Online Instructor Essentials Course (completed prior to class)

  • In-person classroom session with skills practice and teaching evaluations

Prerequisites

• Current AHA Heartsaver® CPR AED First Aid Provider certification

• Completion of the AHA Instructor Essentials online course

• Affiliation with an authorized AHA Training Center
